Our family has had no shortage of hard times and struggles the last few years.
We’ve had the ups and downs of family life, health struggles for just about everyone in our family, and the hardship that goes along with watching as my dad fights his progressive form of Parkinson’s Disease.
If we were going it alone, any of these things might have been enough to break us, but through it all we’ve had strong faith that God is working in our lives, that we can trust Him, and that His strength is enough.
Today I want to share some verses that I have found helpful over the past few years, that have bolstered my resolve and given me hope. I’m hoping that they can give you some encouragement as well.

Bible Verses About Overcoming Fear
One of hardest things to do as a Christian is to have faith that God is working, and to not be afraid of all the things that come our way. Here are some verses that talk about having confidence in God and trusting in His timing.
Worry is a cycle of inefficient thoughts whirling around a center of fear. – Corrie Ten Boom
Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Isaiah 41:13 For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Psalm 56:3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”
Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Psalm 121:1-2 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Bible Verses About How God Is With Us In Our Suffering
God hasn’t promised that we won’t suffer in this life, but He has told us that he’ll walk through our valleys with us. He’ll be right by our side, and his grace will be enough.
James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
While other worldviews lead us to sit in the midst of life’s joys, foreseeing the coming sorrows, Christianity empowers its people to sit in the midst of this world’s sorrows, tasting the coming joy. – Tim Keller
Romans 8:17-18 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Psalm 112: 1, 7-8 Praise the Lord! Happy are those who fear the Lord. They are not afraid of evil tidings; their hearts are firm, secure in the Lord. Their hearts are steady, they will not be afraid.
2 Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Bible Verses About Relying On God’s Strength
When we look to God he will give us the strength we need to carry through the dark times. Here are some verses speaking to his unwavering love for us, and how he will give us strength when we look to Him in prayer.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
His strength is perfect when our strength is gone. He’ll carry us when we can’t carry on. Raised in His power the weak become strong. His strength is perfect” ~ Jerry Salley & Steven Curtis Chapman
Psalm 16:8 I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Philippians 4:11-13 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Deuteronomy 31:6,8 Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
Bible Verses About Overcoming And Rising Up
With God as our strength and our guiding light, we can overcome and rise above our hardships.
You will find a joy in overcoming obstacles. – Helen Keller
1 John 5:5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you. I quit my job and moved to another state for the benefit of my fiance’s job. We have been here about four months and I haven’t found a good job yet and he is getting jobs here and there. We have lost material things and now have to move because of bad choices he made. I’m trying to be strong, firm and steadfast but it is hard. I trust God for everything in my life. Just pray for us.
I’ll be praying for you, please persevere and trust that God will see you through. I’m sure if you reflect you will already see that through adversity and troubled times he is actually carrying you and there are little lessons to be learned to gain insight knowledge and wisdom. God is good and just and everything is according to his will. Be faithful and run the race marked out for you. You will be made stronger. Believe that you have already received what you ask for in prayer, and don’t doubt. Remember faith without deeds is useless walk the walk of Jesus and be guided by the Holy Spirit. It’s only 5:15 am, I woke up early and needed some encouragement. I looked up Bible verses an found exactly what I needed. God is truly good to those who are faithful, and directs our paths whenever we seek him.
My day is made strong by daily readings of scripture prayer and fellowship.

Going through hard times. No money. Nowhere to live. My health is bad. my ankles are swollen. I have leg ulcers all over my right leg. I’ve head two knee replacements and I can barely walk. But I know my God is sufficient and I know God hears my prayers and God says he will never leave me Psalms 121 where does my help come from.

Please pray for God to give me the strength to move Gracefully through my grief of losing my highly gifted, Sweet, Angelic 10 yr old son, suddenly & unexpectedly, nearly 2 years ago, just 9 days after my birthday. My Dear, Sweet Dyllan was plucked from my life, without warning, and I’m still trying to come to terms with that…I am not angry with God… my faith is very strong… but I pray for clarity, understanding & strength… the sadness, hits me still, with the velocity of a Tsunami everyday & I am struggling to function… my fiance’ of 5 years has emotionally abandoned me, despite the fact that I have been running his company for him, for the past 5 years, without pay, other than having a roof over my head…I have to generate enough money to buy him out of the house that my baby boy passed away in, and I am not ready to leave here…I need to do a start up on my passion company, to be able to generate that beautiful legacy for my son, but I don’t know how I will be able to run my finance’s company & do a start up on my son’s legacy company, at the same time… but I’m afraid if I don’t, he will throw ME OUT, IF I try to start my own business, because he will view it as ME neglecting HIS COMPANY ( and here’s where the conflict lies between he & I… ALL he’s concerned about is HIS COMPANY & NOT my well being, or me being compelled to follow my heart’s desire & what feels , to me, to be my life’s purpose)…and I have so much work to do, to create a beautiful legacy to honor his memory, while serving God & continuing his passion for helping others who are less fortunate, in our community… by my feet feel as if I am trapped in quicksand & can’t move… being paralyzed by grief, was NOT what I had envisioned for my life & I struggle to break free from it’s grip… so I continue to pray that God will rectify the situation (show me how to generate the 300,000.00 …that I need to remain in the home where my boy passed away, while I work to rebuild my heart, my life & Dyllan’s Legacy simultaneously while trying to also regain my security & financial footing) & release me so that I can get back to serving him, while honoring my son & helping our community & fulfilling my life’s purpose, all at the same time! When 2 or more pray… miracles happen… so we all need to be praying for, loving & encouraging each other because in turn, it also strengthens, empowers ourselves & brings our own hearts Joy & Happiness, which ends up growing like a sprout of love, in which spreads like wildfire to others! God Bless & Thanks to everyone who is helping to inspire & spread the word of God’s Love & to remind us all to make claim on our inheritance, that he has promised to us all! Then I read on to read of the grief and challenges you face and my heart goes out to you. Praying for a breakthrough in your life. And for God’s comfort and healing to overtake the grief and pain you face. I pray you will find a way to honour your son’s life with joy and purpose and at the same time still live the life God has called you to live. I pray you will experience financial and emotional freedom! Praying God’s will over your relationship too. Above all I pray that God will restore above and beyond what the enemy has stolen and fill your life with people that love and support you. Not a comment but a question, I read KJV, which one are you referring to in this article? KJV gets a little old English and I tend to not understand at times the verses that’s why I’m asking. Thank you

I didn’t know how our rent would be paid our check was late we got a eviction notice we prayed and God started making a way! 1st he gave us favor with our landlords for more time, then we were given favor to get a unemployment check when it looked dismal and back pay!!! Pay your tithes, Pray constantly, have faith, and trust Jesus more than you trust yourself. I’m writing ?? this on faith because I prayed for this and believing it and I hope this you as much as it is helping me! God Bless Jesus Loves You and We are also trying to follow his example!

I have at the point in juncture of my life that the Faith and faith alone in God will get me through this mad race. Despite knowing the fact that through the Grace of God everything has been arranged miraculously the fear and doubt still lingers. The devil is testing me constantly. I needed to read these verses to dispel the devil and strengthen my faith and it did. But I know the devil will rise again….but now I know where the find the strength…..from the words of God…Bible!

My son is so wonderful to me, when I lost my van which is my home to impound he bought me another car to stay in. A week later his new bike was stolen, I feel terrible about it because he spent the money for me now he runs five miles to work everyday. He’s in work release he’s had to endure very hard times..all to protect me his mother. God blessed me with such a good son. He’s a wonderful man who loves God he has such a beautiful heart and great wisdom. Everyday I’m amazed at how much he’s changed through Jesus Christ
