Comment Number 4000 Wins A $50 Amazon Gift Card! Congrats To…

This blog has been having a lot of big (and small) milestones lately. Last month we reached 1 million page views for the life of the site. I never though I would have that many of my articles actually read by people. It was extremely humbling. Shortly after that I also passed over 700,000 visitors for the life of the site. Again, very humbling.

Yesterday I passed another milestone. This site had its 4000th comment since it went live! Once again, I find it very gratifying that people have found the site engaging and interesting enough that they want to add their own thoughts to the posts. I think it’s that user interaction on the site that I find the most fun – being able to go back and forth and talk about the topics of the day with this site’s regular readers.

2 weeks ago I briefly announced on twitter that I would be holding a quickie contest to reward people who regularly comment on the site. The winner would be the person who wrote comment number 4000 since the site went live, and they would receive a $50 Amazon Gift Card. Yesterday i realized that we were getting extremely close to that 4000 number, so I once again announced the contest on Twitter. We had a rush of comments at that time, and one of those commenters from Twitter actually ended up winning the contest.
