Insurance, it’s a topic most of us like to avoid like the plague. It’s dry, un-interesting, and usually means thinking about things none of us want to think about like having an accident. The problem is, avoiding looking at your insurance can end up costing you a lot of money.

The last time I compared auto insurance rates it had been about 5-6 years since I had gotten quotes. When I got rate quotes from a variety of companies I quickly realized that not checking my rates had cost me thousands of dollars. By switching my insurance I ended up saving over $1000 a year.

Insurance rates and fees associated with them can change all the time, so i suggest comparing your rates every 6 months to a year. When checking your rates make sure to compare rates on the same or very similar coverage, otherwise a lower rate may just mean less coverage.
