I am 47. My wife and I have been working our way out of debt for 10 years. It takes that long when you bury yourself that deep. I started backwards too. I had built up quite a bit in retirement savings, but when the wife came along, I couldn't even come up with a decent down payment on a house. All that money in IRA's and 401k"s is meaningless until 591/2. Today, we are still 3 years away from living like no one else, but our lives get better everyday. We have a fully funded emergency fund, and enough in our car fund to buy a good used car when needed. We are making better than double house payments each month, and in about three years we will be calling Dave and screaming too! Anyway, keep up the GREAT work on these blogs, and keep up the message of inspiration and hope out there. And don't forget to check out my websight and send someone you love a FREE card on us today! It's surprising how trained all of us are/were to believing the lies of needing credit to live life.
