My washer was purchased in 1997 or 1998 and is going to need to be replaced. My dryer is older than that. I just recently retired so it would be nice to save some dollars.

Gregg, the program hasn’t gone live yet. The states will have until October 15, 2009 to submit their applications for funding and plans for recycling old appliances to the Department of Energy (DOE). The DOE plans to have distributed funding to the states by November 30. Some time after that you should be able to take part and get a rebate. Good luck!

Please advise where I can find info pertaining to the appliance stimulus money. I see where Michigan’s figures are adjusted to the population,etc. but all I want to know is does it cover all kitchen appliances, dishwasher, stove and fridge, and micro wave?
I am in the market and when the stimulus is clear, I’m on it.
Please help.

Will I buy a new fridge – sure, I have been waiting for this new squandering of public funds. Is it the straw that will break the economies back – hardly, since the 300 million they are squandering on this is only .03% of the amount we are squandering on Wall Street, AIG, etc. As a economic nation – we are doomed, the govt. will continue to deficit spending until we can no longer borrow, then they will print money until the dollar is worthless. If they stop deficit spending we will go into a severe depression, if they continue – we will eventually go into economic collapse. Joe Public continues to vote in politicians that embrace deficit spending. We are so doomed.
