The balance is knowing when something is futile. Persistence is super, but it must be tempered with objective analysis of the results being generated by an approach. Intelligently adapting and adjusting based on feedback, while not loosing focus of your goal, is required.

Thanks for sharing these inspiring stories!

Always good to be reminded of these stories...I think the Coveys' example has got to be the most extreme, though! Look at where persistence got them: if you multiply all the chicken soup editions with the languages they're translated in.... wow. So imagine how far even just the *average* amount of persistence can get you.

Thanks for this great reminder. Being persistent really is a good way to do things. It works on the level of finances when you attempt to pay off debt, invest or build an emergency fund.

Excellent post with really powerful examples! I'm ready to, as Dora says in Finding Nemo "just keep swimming". Reminds me of the lessons Linda Kaplan Thaler teaches in The Power of Small. Did anyone see her at the Maximum Impact Simulcast? So inspirational and the book was amazing. Can't wait to read "Does Your Bag Have Holes?" too!

Persistence does pay off, not just for business but for anything. Sometimes even the ladies.
