I used to be with ixWebHosting which was cheap but awful. The server and database were always going down or timing out, and my blog would go down as soon as it began seeing StumbleUpon or blog carnival traffic (even with page caching). It's harrowing to be down when you know something's at stake. Still annoying to be down on a regular day, but not as bad. @Nate, I think Pete's probably moved up beyond that level of hosting now. Media Temple offers more than BlueHost. I know a lot of people who've been happy there, but it's touch-and-go for bigger sites.
