We splurged also. Went up to Paoli Peaks in Indiana skiing, spent the night in a nice hotel, and the next day both got massages. It was awesome, and totally worth it.

Like you, we saved the money in advance, so no harm was done.

Sounds like you have a fantastic day planned. We're going frugal this year and just got pizza for us and the kids. My wife gave me the best valentines and cleaned the inside of my car. Wow! You'll have to tell us how the day went. I don't know if I could ever spend $300 on a holiday. Although we did splurge and buy some New York Strip steak that was on sale for $3.87/# which we'll BBQ on the grill. I'm making potato soup and cutting steamed beets into heart shapes. This will make the soup pink! We'll also have asparagus which is one sale for $0.97/# Making an upside-down cheesecake in a heart shaped tin. Candles on the table. Still need to clean off the table! Making tiny truffles to decorate the cheesecake as well as a cranberry sauce to drizzle over the top. Oh, also making chocolate sorbet. It's already chilling. Well, that's my plan, we'll see how well I can go forward with what my imagination came up with. Mrs. Accountabilitys last blog post..Yay - My Glasses are Being Replaced!
