Use market timing for 401Ks. I have a decent one and give 3 months free. I used winter/summer as described in "Investing the easy way" by Sy harding and retired at 53. Also become a cheerful giver and support the Lords work. If you sow into God's kingdom you will reap; quaranteed. I like promises backed up by the creator of the universe.

I just reviewed my 401K and based on some back of the enevelope caluclations (which I wrote about) feel that it may not be a bad idea to reduce your 401K investments for now. Infact you can actually make money by cutting back on your 401K and putting that money in a high interest saving account. This assumes the stock market will fall further and I do advocate getting back in when the market stablizes.

Thanks for the link Pete. Great stuff. I have another article posting tomorrow about people's perceptions and reactions to the market.

I think it's silly to take your stuff out and move into bonds or whatever unless you're retiring in the next few months. You've already lost a lot of money by taking your assets out of a tumbling market.

Unless you think the market will continue to go down forever and the entire country is going down. If that's the case then you shouldn't be buying bonds either. You should be buying gold and probably guns...
