Some years ago I had an Amex Gold card (fee was free for a year). I managed to use it to get preferred seating for a couple of concerts I really wanted to see. Other than that I've used the Car Rental Insurance. I should probably look into the other benefits to see if there's anything else to take advantage of. This is actually a big point when shopping for a card — some programs do reimburse when items are stolen from a car (ie – the Amex Platinum program does.) However, gotta watch for annual fees, of course.. however, many issuers will waive them if you ask nicely, and use the card a lot.
