For the Lord your God will bless you as He has promised you, and you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow; and you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you. Deuteronomy 15:6
Another scripture that stresses the importance of not going into debt. We are told that because we do not borrow, we will not be ruled over. Much like in this verse in Proverbs:
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7
Don’t borrow, and you will be subject only to God!
