The past few weeks I’ve been reminded in a bunch of ways of just how woefully inadequate I’ve been when it comes to praying to God in all things. As Christians I feel we constantly need to be in relationship with Christ, seeking guidance, asking for things we need and praising him for all the blessings he has given us. This includes praying about our financial life.
A couple of weeks ago at church our pastor talked about prayer in his message. He said that we need to approach God in prayer, and not just with generalities, but with specifics. A lot of times we don’t see the need to be specific in our prayer because we figure that “God already knows what I need”. But God likes specifics. Look at the story of the blind man that was healed by Jesus in Luke 18:
He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.
The blind man asks Jesus to have mercy on him. While it may have been obvious that the blind man wanted his sight, Jesus asked him what he wanted – he wanted him to be specific in his prayer, and step out in faith and ask for what he needed. When he told Jesus what he wanted specifically, and had faith he would receive it, Jesus healed him.
In the same way, I think we need to step out in faith, and ask Jesus for what we need in our financial life – and be specific. Of course we need to make sure that what we are asking for fits within the will of God, but when it does, pray specifically about it.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philipians 4:6-7
Keep These Things In Mind
This is what I’ve been reminded of this week:
- We need to be in prayer “in everything”.
- We need to present our requests to God, and be specific.
- We need to be thankful for what he’s already given us.
- We need to praise him for who he is, and what he’s done for us.
Pray about your financial life and God will hear your prayer. Whether or not your request is granted is up to Him, but Philipians says that when you pray to him, no matter the outcome, he will give you a peace that transcends all understanding. To me that’s better than anything that money could buy.

I am having a hard time finding a job and a few years back I loaned some people money to the amount of $65.000.00. and I really need the money so bad now, How do I pray for the money to come back to me.

My prayer request is for a financial miracle.. and just to be at peace with our finances.. To have security in our finances… I want to know that I have enough.. I dont want to worry anymore over my finances.. I pray that our debt can be wiped clean… I know that we have learned from our mistakes.. and I just want it all behind me.. I want jesus to take his hand and clean up this financial mess we are in… I pray he can give me and my family a life of obundnace.. LORD I do believe in the power of your miracles.. I want to live a life of peace.. a life of security… I want my peace and joy to come from you Lord Jesus… I feel each day I am making great strides toward that life… I feel in my heart today that it is different.. that I am not worring to much about how little is in our account, but being thankfull for the few dollars we do have… I feel you are changing my heart each day.. I just pray each month the bills can be paid and met… I want to pray that my dad can get the job so they can rest a little easier with their finances… and I pray that plane sells soon.. I know they didn’t need it, it was a want and I pray they will learn from that mistake.. I thank you Lord for everything you have given me. and I pray I can see changes in myself each day… I know you are with me each step of the way… and I know God and families are forever, finances are only temporary… and I do not want to focus all my engery on my bills anymore..I want to focus more of engery on you and my family… Lord Jesus I love you so much and I know you will protect me and my family… LORD I do believe and I pray you will continue to bless my family.. I pray for more work in my business for extra money and that it can keep growing in leaps and bounds.. Please lay your hand on my business and bless it beyond belief…I know only you can do this dear Lord..and I know you are going to.. Thank you Lord Jesus for everything.. I love you
