What Does It Take To Be Rich? Is Enough – Ever Enough?

I was reading at another blog today, www.freemoneyfinance.com, and they were posing the question, what does it take to be rich? They talked about an article in the Wall Street Journal which posed that same question to wealthy people, “How much does it take to be rich?”. The answer they found was this:
From a biblical perspective, this speaks to the idea that money can never satisfy. You always think that if you have more you’ll be happy, and the money will fill the longing in your heart. It can’t.
While working hard, saving money, and being wealthy aren’t necessarily bad things. When they become our main objectives, and they become a replacement for faith and salvation they can lead to an unhappy and unsatisfying life.
So, how much does it take to be rich? For me, I am rich beyond measure. My faith in Jesus Christ has given me riches in heaven, and anything earthly riches he chooses to let me be a steward of while I’m here is just added onto the many blessings I already have.
“I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of contentment in every situation, whether it be a full stomach or hunger, plenty or want; for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power.” Philippians 4:12-13, TLB
