After doing a bible study at my home church here in Bloomington, Minnesota I have realized just how important our finances are, and as a Christian, just how much the bible talks about money matters.
In an effort to document some of the things I have learned through my recent studies, as well as trying to share those bits of wisdom with others out there on the internet, I decided to start this blog which I am calling Bible Money Matters. I will be talking about all sorts of things related to managing money wisely, as well as how it relates to my faith in Jesus Christ.
If you have ideas for topics you would like covered, or if you’ve got something to say in relation to one of my posts, please leave a comment. I look forward to your responses!
A Couple Of Verses Related to Money
It is so important to be wary of our relation to money, how we view it and how it plays a role in our lives. It can be so easy for material things to become an idol in our lives. While I don’t think it is a bad thing to earn money, or to be rich, I do think that the more you have, the harder it can be to give, and as Jesus stated -”You cannot serve God and wealth” (Matthew 6:24) .
Now, that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, just more difficult. The pursuit of wealth can insulate us from the workings of GOD in our lives. It can kill the seed of the word that is sown in our lives, and keep us for eternal treasures that our heavenly father wants to give us. It’s a matter of focus, and remembering to keep our eyes on Him.
